Charms of Casablanca

Hi guys! 

We are about to welcome the weekend! It's time to plan excursions, barbeques, meetings or quick escapes.

Today I'd like to share with you my visit to  the Moroccan city of Casablanca. A weekend destination.

The weather was very good, not very cold and sun shinning. So I visited the markets, its streets and the big mosque.

I have to say I was impressed by the work of the handcrafts and artisans that made such beautiful religious space of the Hassan II Mosque. Very beautiful and with such attention to detail.

We had a tour through it with a tour guide for 120DH, 45 minutes visit. And it was worth it. 

For those who know only a little about the muslim culture and specifically the Moroccan one this space doesn't just show the religious place of gathering for the devoted ones but also functions as a museum. Under the mosque itself there are a few spaces built to show more about the way it works: where do people is supposed to wash themselves as well as a room for the Moroccan bath. Just for show. 

I recommend this visit a 100%.

Estamos a punto de dar la bienvenida al fin de semana. Es hora de planear excursiones, barbacoas, encuentros o escapaditas.
Hoy me gustaría compartir con vosotros mi visita a la ciudad de Casablanca, en Marruecos. Un destino que podríais ver en un fin de semana.
El tiempo fue bastante bueno, no hacía mucho frío y salió el sol, así que visité el mercado, las calles y la gran mezquita.
Tengo que decir que me impresionó mucho  el trabajo que hicieron a mano los artesanos de tal espacio religioso, la Mezquita Hassan II. Con mucho gusto y atención a los detalles.
Tuvimos un tour por la mezquita con una guía por 120 dinares, 45 minutos. Y valió la pena. Para aquellos que conocen poco la cultura musulmana y en concreto la de Marruecos, este espacio no sólo os abre las puertas de uno de los sitios de reunión de fieles sino que funciona también como museo. Debajo de la mezquita en si, hay varios espacios construidos para pasear por las distintas tradiciones: desde los lavapiés hasta salas de baños marroquíes, sólo para muestra.
Recomiendo esta visita al 100%.

Dublin main spots

Hi guys!
Last week I went to Dublin for the first time ever. I decided to go for a walk in the morning and not to get wasted with beer in the pub for an evening...the easiest way to throw the day down the gutter!
During the walk I saw the Spire (a surprising vertical structure), the Castle, St. Patrick's Church and The Temple Bar, one of the most famous in the city. I was impressed by the conservation of historic architecture right in the centre of the city and the Parks and gardens surrounding.
But I might as well share the pictures I took with you and propose myself to get to see a lot more for next time.

La semana pasada fui a Dublin por primera vez. Decidí ir a dar un paseo por la mañana en vez de emborracharme en el bar por la noche a base de cerveza...que es la manera más fácil de tirar el día entero por la borda!
Durante el paseo vi la aguja (Spire), una estructura vertical sorprendente, el Castillo, la Iglesia de San Patricio y el Bar Temple, uno de los más famosos de la ciudad. Me impresionó la buena conservación de la arquitectura histórica en el medio de la ciudad rodeada de parques y jardines.
Pero vale más que os deje con las fotos que tomé y me proponga visitar mucho más para la próxima.

Freezing New York

Hi guys! 

Last week I had a day in New York. I knew it could be a cold city but never expected not being able to feel my fingers! Even when wearing gloves! 

The sides of the streets were literally frozen, but that didn't stop me from taking the ferry to Ellis' Island.

It was the first time I saw the Statue of Liberty (a must spot) and I have to admit it was cool. 

Later on during the day me and my colleagues spotted a nice cafe/ restaurant to have some lunch and get a bit warmer in Broadway. It is called Applejack and it's been there for many years. Food was excellent! 

I am sure that, if you have ever been to NY, you also have beautiful memories, so share them!

La semana pasada estuve en Nueva York por un día. Sabía que era una ciudad donde hacía frío, pero nunca imaginé llegar a dejar de notar los dedos! Incluso con guantes!

Los bordes de las aceras estaban helados, pero aún así nada me detuvo a visitar la isla de Ellis.

Era la primera vez que veía la Estatua de la Libertad (un deber como turista) y tengo que reconocer que estuvo chulo.

Más tarde, con mis colegas, encontramos un buen sitio cafetería/ restaurante donde parar a comer y entrar en calor en Broadway. Se llama Applejack y hace mucho años que está abierto. Toda la comida estaba riquísima!

Estoy segura de que, si habéis estado alguna vez en NY, también tenéis bonitos recuerdos, así que ¡compartidlos!

Como Lake, Italy

Hi guys!
Recently I was in Italy for a couple of days on a romantic weekend scape. Unfortunatelly, it was raining for one full day. Then, luckily, on Sunday it cleared up a bit and we could see the Lake of Como and take the funicular up the mountain for a better view and have some good lunch with wine.
I definetly love Italy, its people, food and traditions. Warm and hospitable. So Mediterranean!

Hace poco estuve en Italia un par de días de escapadita romántica. Desafortunadamente, llovió durante un día entero. Luego, por suerte, el Domingo se despejaron los cielos y pudimos ver el Lago de Como y subir montaña arriba con el funicular para unas mejores vistas y un buen almuerzo con vino.
Definitivamente me encanta Italia, su gente, comida y tradiciones. Gente hospitalaria y afectuosa. ¡Tan Mediterráneos!

Cape Town landscape

Hi guys!
I've been having some rest lately and, honestly, I have done nothing other than sleeping and eating nicely. However, last weekend I was in Cape Town (South Africa) and, apart from the fact that the weather was nice, it was also quite windy, which meant I couldn't go up to Table Mountain neither hiking nor by cable car. That's fine, I will keep it noted for next time.
Same happened with the visit to the penguins. Boulders Beach is also still in the checklist to be ticked off. That's the place where there's a penguin's colony where you are meant to be able to see them from a few meters away. The excursion though can become quite expensive if there's not many people that wants to go...
So at that point, I booked a tour in the red bus that goes around the city and, as a good tourist, hoped on and off to take nice pictures of the views and enjoy the sun. From the Waterfront, to Camps Bay, through Table Mountain, Bantry Bay and Sea Point.

By the way, all over South Africa you can eat excellent meat so have a nice fillet if you want to enjoy a proper meal.

Últimamente he estado descansando y, honestamente, no he hecho nada más que dormir y comer bien. Sin embargo, el fin de semana pasado estuve en Cape Town (Sudáfrica) y, aparte de que hacía buen tiempo, soplaba mucho viento, lo que significó no poder subir a Table Mountain ni a pie ni con el teleférico. Bueno, lo anotaré para la próxima vez.
Lo mismo sucedió con la visita a los pingüinos. La Playa de Boulders Beach también quedó en la lista de tareas pendientes para tachar. Allí hay una colonia de pingüinos dónde puedes verlos des de sólo unos metros de distancia, pero la excursión puede ser bastante cara si no hay mucha gente que quiera hacerla...
Llegados a ese punto, reservé el tour con el bús rojo que recorre la ciudad y, cómo buen turista, subí y bajé en varias paradas para sacar unas cuántas fotos del paisaje y disfrutar del sol. El recorrido te lleva des de primera linea de mar hasta Camps Bay, pasando por Table Mountain, Bantry Bay y Sea Point.
