Cape Town landscape

Hi guys!
I've been having some rest lately and, honestly, I have done nothing other than sleeping and eating nicely. However, last weekend I was in Cape Town (South Africa) and, apart from the fact that the weather was nice, it was also quite windy, which meant I couldn't go up to Table Mountain neither hiking nor by cable car. That's fine, I will keep it noted for next time.
Same happened with the visit to the penguins. Boulders Beach is also still in the checklist to be ticked off. That's the place where there's a penguin's colony where you are meant to be able to see them from a few meters away. The excursion though can become quite expensive if there's not many people that wants to go...
So at that point, I booked a tour in the red bus that goes around the city and, as a good tourist, hoped on and off to take nice pictures of the views and enjoy the sun. From the Waterfront, to Camps Bay, through Table Mountain, Bantry Bay and Sea Point.

By the way, all over South Africa you can eat excellent meat so have a nice fillet if you want to enjoy a proper meal.

Últimamente he estado descansando y, honestamente, no he hecho nada más que dormir y comer bien. Sin embargo, el fin de semana pasado estuve en Cape Town (Sudáfrica) y, aparte de que hacía buen tiempo, soplaba mucho viento, lo que significó no poder subir a Table Mountain ni a pie ni con el teleférico. Bueno, lo anotaré para la próxima vez.
Lo mismo sucedió con la visita a los pingüinos. La Playa de Boulders Beach también quedó en la lista de tareas pendientes para tachar. Allí hay una colonia de pingüinos dónde puedes verlos des de sólo unos metros de distancia, pero la excursión puede ser bastante cara si no hay mucha gente que quiera hacerla...
Llegados a ese punto, reservé el tour con el bús rojo que recorre la ciudad y, cómo buen turista, subí y bajé en varias paradas para sacar unas cuántas fotos del paisaje y disfrutar del sol. El recorrido te lleva des de primera linea de mar hasta Camps Bay, pasando por Table Mountain, Bantry Bay y Sea Point.

Por cierto, en todo Sudáfrica podéis comer excelente carne, así que pedid un buen filete si queréis disfrutar de una comida como Dios manda.

 

My Amsterdam TOP 10

A few days ago I was in Amsterdam. It wasn't the first time I was there but there is always plenty to visit and have fun in such a plural and open city. I did not go out at night nor visited any coffee shop, but I went for a walk in the morning and had lots of fun and good food.
If you ever go let me give you my Top10 MUST DO:

1. Red Light District
   Let me tell you this beforehand: this is just a tic in the box. No fun, just curiosity. Because it is just out there. In the street. And it is surprising for all of us, tourists. Do not take pictures if you don't want to be in trouble...
2. Van Gogh & Rembrandt Museum
   Make a bit of an effort and visit a couple of Museums (there are so many!). Great and known artists with historical paintings. Impressive.
3. Anne Frank's house
   Very interesting walk through the house of a girl that hid during german invasion. Museum is open everyday. It is not adapted for wheelchairs.
4. Heineken experience
   I must admit I have never been but I have been told by some friends that it is worth going. We all know the brand but not everything related to it.
5. Bulldog coffee shop
   Another tic in the box. Been there, done it got the T-shirt...long time ago. Just because it's legal. Let me tell you this, I am not inviting anyone to go smoke but you can go and have a drink and see the ambience.
6. Rent a bike and/or walk by the canals
   And be careful! Get a map. Stay in the bikes line and keep it straight when going with others unless you want to be shouted at. They will do so if needed...
   Take a few pictures of the classical Amsterdam view and keep going.
7. Go out in the weekend
   Leidseplein is the busiest area of Amsterdam when it comes to bars, restaurants and clubs for a good night out plus many tram lines take you there easily.
8. Buy a couple of souvenirs
   Get a keyring with the Dutch Clogs or wooden shoes, a magnet or some of the random smoking stuff with the Amsterdam flag printed. Be a freak!
9. Eat bitterballen or kroketten and frikandel
   Okay, it is not the healthiest thing to eat, just the opposite. But everyone in the Netherlands has eaten them as fast food many times in their life. So you have to try.
10. Learn a few words
    Be polite and smart. It is not very difficult to learn a few expressions or words in dutch: thank you - dank je wel, you're welcome - graag gedaan, see you soon - tot ziens! However, most of dutch people speak good english and they don't actually mind.
